Ann Arbor, Mich. - Lights, microphones, bubble machine. Mofo Karaoke provides great Ypsilanti entertainment every Thursday at The Elbow Room, located at 6 South Washington Street.
Mofo Karaoke is just what you'd expect from a bar putting on a karaoke event, but better. Mofo karaoke comes with a dj that takes requests, books filled with hundreds of songs to choose from, and a bar with affordable drinks. In addition to that, Mofo Karaoke is free for anyone 21 and older, it costs 5 dollars for people between 18 and 20 years of age.
An article at online Ann Arbor Observer, by Charmie Gholson, accurately describes a scene at Mofo Karaoke: "People are dancing, and the place is jumping. A kid with green hair wearing a bandolier—complete with long, shiny, pointy bullets—sings a song I don’t recognize; it’s something from the 1980s, I think."
Most of the clientele that go to Mofo Karaoke are people in their 20's. This is not always the case however. In the past few year celebrities have graced the Elbow Room to attend Mofo Karaoke.
"Juliette Lewis took over the Thursday night MoFo Karaoke, and Eve crashed at bartender Andy Garris' house," noted Steve Pepple, in an article on mlive.com.
Current readers for Current Readers Choice awards voted Mofo Kareoke as the runner up for best karaoke in town.
