The Packard Pub

Ann Arbor, Mich.- A few nights ago my partner and I decided to go to the newly opened Packard Pub, located at 640 Packard St, on the corner of State and Packard St, in Ann Arbor Michigan. Whether you are or aren't familiar with this area of town, this bar is the only bar within short walking distance. This part of town is also highly populated, mostly by U of M students, which means there is potential for this bar to become a neighborhood bar for many living in the area.

Because there are so many students living in this area, the bar has bouncers that check ID's upon entering, this means you have to be 21 or older. According to Kyle Miller, the owner of the Packard Pub, brought to you by an article in The Michigan Daily, “The first night we got six fake IDs,” Miller said. “We got a heck of a security team here, and they have a lot of experience.”

Once inside the pub,one could easily notice a strong U of M influence. The walls are painted Maize and Blue, there is U of M parafanallia throughout the bar, and most of it's patrons looked liked they were college students.

The definition of a pub means that it's both a restaurant and bar. The pub definitely felt more like a bar than a restaurant, however I got there around 11 pm. The pub not only provides many beer options, it also has a full menu at a reasonable pub fare.

"Of the 20 taps, half are microbrews, with six of those being Michigan-brewed beers." Referring to Packard Pub's beer selection according to article on Ann Arbor.com.

The Packard Pub is definitely trying to appeal to a sports enthusiasts with it's 14 flat screen televisions.
"By the fall, Miller anticipates installing three large projector screen TVs as a new football season begins, as well as opening at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays to provide breakfast for hungry fans."According to an article by Ann Arbor.com.
